Scholarship Awards

The MHIMA Scholarship Award

Description

The MHIMA Scholarship Award is presented each year to an outstanding student who is currently in an approved HIT/HIM accredited program and will be continuing their education during the next academic school year.

Criteria

The following must be met to apply for this award:

  1. Student Member of AHIMA/MHIMA
  2. Student must have a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0.
  3. Student must be continuing their education at an accredited HIT/HIM program during the next academic school year.

The application form is to be completed via online submission on or before the deadline for consideration of that year’s award. Deadline to apply is March 31st.

* The applicant must have the Program Director of their school complete and submit the online verification form at the link above on or before the deadline.

Evaluation and Selection

The MHIMA Foundation composed of health information professionals will evaluate each application. The awardee is the applicant with the highest total number of points based on the scoring criteria to include organizational involvement, activities, community service activities and honors, awards, and recognition, faculty/program director recommendations and student essay.

Restrictions

Student may receive the award one time.

Jeanette Linck Memorial Scholarship Award

Description

The Jeanette Linck Memorial Scholarship Award honors Jeanette Linck who passed away in August 2015. Jeanette was known for her many contributions to the profession including serving as MHIMA President. This scholarship award is presented to an outstanding student who is currently in a graduate program.

Criteria

The following must be met to apply for this award:

  1. Student Member of AHIMA/MHIMA
  2. Currently enrolled in a graduate program, enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours at time of application
  3. Minimum overall grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0
  4. Applicants must have at least six (6) credit hours remaining after the award date

The application form is to be completed via online submission on or before the deadline for consideration of that year’s award. The application link is above.
