Michigan born and raised, Shari has worked locally for nearly 30 years in her HIM. career. A 1989 graduate of Schoolcraft College, she began her career as an inpatient coder at Botsford Hospital the same year. After 18 years as a coder, she was hired as the first Clinical Documentation Specialist at Botsford at the inception of the program. During the past 11 years, Shari has spoken numerous times at the Radcliffe Center to the HIM students about careers in CDI. She is a founding member of the Michigan chapter of the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists, and is a past-President of MACDIS.
