Writing it Right: The Keys to Effective Provider Documentation
Ida Rubino, MD, CCDS, FAAFP
Ida Rubino, MD, CCDS, FAAFP is currently the Physician Advisor for Clinical Documentation Improvement for Beaumont Health, Troy campus. Dr. Rubino is a Family Physician and sees patients at the Beaumont Family Medicine Center in Sterling Heights where she is Clinical Faculty. She is an Assistant Professor and Course Director for the Art and Practice of Medicine Course at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Dr. Rubino speaks for PPEPI and MDHHS as a peer educator on vaccines. Dr. Rubino attended Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed an internship in Pediatrics and a residency in Family Medicine at Providence Hospital. Dr. Rubino started working in CDI in 2009
Michelle Ponitz RN, BSN, CCDS
Michelle Ponitz RN, BSN, CCDS is currently the CDI Manager for Beaumont Health-Farmington Hills/Grosse Pointe/Troy campuses. She graduated from OU with a BSN and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau in 2000. She began her nursing career as an RN at Botsford Hospital on a step-down medical/surgical respiratory unit. During her 13 years of bedside nursing, she served as charge nurse, preceptor, EMR superuser and member of several committees, including the pain and wound-skin committees. Michelle became a CDS at Botsford Hospital in March of 2013 and continued in that roll until July of 2014. In July of 2014, she accepted the position of CDI manager at Botsford Hospital. She earned her CCDS in 2015. In late 2016, Michelle assumed the role of CDI manager at Beaumont Health for the Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe and Troy campuses.

Kathryn DeVault, MSL, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, FAHIMA Manager, HIM Consulting Services for United Audit Systems, Inc. based in Cincinnati, OH. Kathryn has more than 20 years of experience within the Health Information Management including serving as the Senior Director, HIM Practice Excellence, Coding and Reimbursement for AHIMA prior to joining UASI in March of 2014. Kathryn was one of the primary ICD-10-CM/PCS content developers and instructors for the AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Academy for AHIMA. She has authored multiple HIM and CDI articles including the AHIMA Query Practice Brief. Kathryn has presented numerous seminars and education on HIM and CDI-related topics.
